Through a comprehensive approach, I work with families, couples, and individuals to create safety and security in their relationships. Having the privilege to come alongside this population has increased my passion for working with both adults and children in regard to abuse, shame, and freedom from their respective pasts.
I specialize in addiction, trauma, and marital therapy, which includes family and marriage counseling, adolescent counseling, divorce care, re-marriage, blended family issues, sex addiction, screen addiction, compulsive behavior, and general mental health. To best understand the family, it is necessary to look at it in its entirety – not just at one or some of the parts.
My emphasis on quality counseling is based on professional training and is continually being expanded through ongoing involvement in the continuing education process through seminars, research, supervision, networking with other professionals, and personal reading and study. I will implement various techniques and tools in a manner specifically tailored to each individual and family unit.
I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy trained (EFT), Gottman-trained couples therapist, and am EMDR trained for treating complex trauma. In addition, I am a certified Prepare and Enrich facilitator, which gives me a focus on premarital and marital growth and connection.
On a personal note, I am a doctoral candidate focusing on studying group therapy and its effectiveness in treating sexual addiction and compulsivity. I am an adjunct instructor of behavioral health at the university level, and I enjoy hiking, reading, and attending concerts.
